Soccer, Baseball & Basketball Camp........

Emi spent this last week in a camp put on by Skyhawks. The camp was held Mon-Fri, from 9-Noon. It was designed to teach the kids the basics of Basketball, Soccer & Baseball. She was so excited to go. That all came to a halt on the first day when one of the boys got a little rough during a mock Soccer game. The problem is that they combine girls & boys ages 4-7. So, my little one just freshly 4 and the other boy, 7 right now, turning 8 next month are competing against each other. It was a little too intimidating for Emi, rightly so, I'd be scared too. So, camp was not a success and she didn't have fun.
She also started playing on an organized Soccer team this last week. With the weather as HOT as it's been, the indoor soccer center was like an oven. She seemed to really enjoy it for the first 3 periods. By the fourth she was begging to be taken out of the game. It was just too hot.
Hopefully these experiences didn't ruin it for her. She really likes t-ball and she is pretty good at soccer. But, the big groups intimidate her and she gets nervous and shy. Maybe she is just too young. Or maybe she just isn't much interested in organized sports. Either way, she can do what she wants, except quit half way through a season. I draw the line there. She wanted to play, she has to finish the season. It could be a long one.
