Pageants and the hoop lah!
So, lately we've been super busy with the pageants that E1 has been performing in. We've been practicing once a week for about 2 months and then last weekend was the first pageant. We have another one this weekend and then there is Miss Oregon in June. I'm not a huge pageant fan, in fact I find them rather uncomfortable. Swimsuit competetions and the "random questions" section of the pageant are too much for me to handle. I always feel bad for the girls when they stumble on questions and I feel uncomfortable when they are up their tromping around in their swimsuits. Why? I don't know. They are choosing to do this I suppose but I can't help but thinking that they really DON'T want to be in a little bikini and high heels twirling this way and that......do they? Crap, I don't even wear a bikini at the river w/o covering up, I can't even imagine marching around on a stage.
But, the little girls portion of the pageant, in which they perform and entertain the audience during transition time is really stinkin' adorable. They danced to "bibbity bobbity boo" Emi did GREAT! She didn't even mess up and she smiled at the audience the whole time! I don't have pics yet, but I'll post them when I get them. She looked gorgeous with her hair in curls and her beautiful dress. She said her part, "Hi, I'm Princess Emilyann and I'm five years old" perfectly. She got a lot of ooooohs and aauughs because she is one of two 5 year olds, the youngest in the group. It was cute! Miss Oregon danced and sang with them and she seems super sweet. Emi enjoyed the entire experience ALOT.
I only had one complaint about the entire experience. Make-up was a requirement, I get that and I'm ok with that. She's on stage, she has to wear make-up in her dance recitals so we are past caring about that. But, I have always put on such a little amount because she is only 5 and I would like to keep her looking that way. I did her make-up beforehand, thought it looked great and she popped out on stage with a WHOLE LOT more then I left her with. Someone back stage thought she didn't have enough so they "spruced" her up before she came out. Geez! She said, "some lady said that my mommy didn't put enough make-up on me". So, I lost that battle I guess.
In good news, when Miss Oregon said, "How many of you want to be in a pageant someday?". Emi was the only one who didn't raise her hand. Yay for me!! We'll keep performing because any time Emi can be on stage only boosts her confidence, but as far as competing......looks like maybe I'll get out of that one.
