Seeing Double??
So, I had my first Dr.'s appt. of this pregnancy yesterday. It was supposed to be routine, just in and out, answer a few questions, let them poke me and prod me, take some of my blood.....you know, the APPOINTMENT you dread because the fun appointments haven't started yet. I am only 9 weeks along, so I don't really have much to report.......EXCEPT, that I am for some strange reason, massively huge. Laugh all you want, I look as though I am at least 16-20 weeks. In most 2nd, 3rd and beyond pregnancies you begin to show a little more quick then the first, so I have dismissed my concerns about my bulging belly as nothing more then that. But, when I walked in to the examination room the Doc says, "So, have you felt any movement yet". I looked at her and said "I'm only 9 weeks along".... I'm sure that she was trying really hard to hide her surprise, but you can't fool me. I know she was shocked. She opens my file and starts to look through it.......I hear this: "Hmm...Ah Ha....hmhm..." and she finally says this: "I see you have a history of twins in your family". TWINS?????? Is she frigin' kidding me? I can tell she isn't, so I answer with this: "Well, yeah I suppose I do, my Paternal Grandfather is an identical twin, my Brothers are identical twins, my husband has identical twin cousins....and oh yeah, did I mention that my husband is a twin...". (Not that I truly believe that the man's side has anything to do with the "twin factor" but some people do) She then asks if I am sure of how far along I am. I say yes but that there is always room for error. Then she says, "I need you to come back in the next two weeks for an ultra sound. We need to determine if you are having twins....the chances are good and well, judging from your size.........."
I leave in shock, sort of excited somewhat scared. I'm trying not to think about it. I don't want to get excited only to get let down and I don't the opposite either. In the meantime Eric and I have started the "what-ifs"......
My response........"Sold is the Jeep Wrangler, Sold is the Ford F250, Sold is the Honda CR250 dirtbike....HELLO MiniVan." I'm not kidding.
